| A single-source system uses one source document—or
a series of source documents—to produce multiple versions in
any medium. A single-source file, for example, can be used to create
web-based text, text in an online help system, downloadable PDF manuals, downloadable FTP files, or paper documentation—all from a single source file. The
advantage, clearly, is that one piece of writing can serve many purposes, which saves costs for you and your company. |
